Welcome to our pile!

Mary Mercury and Glenda Greenhouse like to transform rotten things.  Indeed their pile has produced some pretty amazing loot.  Their performance and media work, blend satire, commentary, humor and activism.  The Composters love talking compost and we think everyone should do it.  Go ahead, embrace the decay…and transform it.  We believe that a lot of problems in our world could be solved with a little composting action.  Just think you take the old and outmoded and you turn it into sustenance for new growth.  When you start to ask, “where does it come from and where does it go” things start to change.

Glenda and Mary are doctoral candidates in speech communication at Southern Illinois University.  They have been performing their “activism via humus” since 2005 and are about to embark on their third spring and summer tour.  When they aren’t discussing the irony of traveling to do environmental performance work, they can be heard on their weekly radio program, Take a Look at What Mother Nature’s Wearing, every Monday from 10 a.m. to noon.

So go ahead, grab your garden spork and join us because every pile is a revolution.

Turn the pile!
